Abdullah Gundogdu is a well-know figure in the Istanbul, indeed world-wide, carpet world, and his small shop near to the Covered Bazaar is a favourite meeting place. As well as selling carpets, Abdullah is a restorer of fine kelims. Sometimes he finds that the piece is too badly damaged to repair, so he saves it for Anne, and together they cut up the undamaged part of the rug, transforming it into cushions. The feather fillings are made in England.
